Hardware requirements for the nodes

The following table summarizes the hardware requirements for each node.

Network interface card (NIC)

At least four NICs are required for each node.

Two NICs connected to a private network.

  • For a two-node cluster, either cross connect two private NICs on each node or use a switch.

  • If there are more than two nodes in the cluster, make sure that you have a dedicated switch (or a public or private switch with a dedicated VLAN) and that all the private NICs are connected to the switch.

Connect two public NICs from each node to the public network. The gateway must be reachable to each public NIC.

IP address

For a two-node cluster, make sure that you have nine IP addresses available.

  • Four IP addresses are used to configure physical IPs.

  • Four IP addresses are used to configure virtual IPs.

  • One IP address is used to configure the Operations Manager console.

  • One IP address is used for replication, which is optional.

Make sure that these nine IP addresses are different from the IP addresses that are already assigned to the target cluster nodes to install Veritas Access over Secure Shell (ssh).
