When a domain user with local administrative rights attempts a test run job/resource credential test for SharePoint 2007/SharePoint 2010 resources, the job fails with the following message: "Status: UMI V-79-57344-39812 Error: e0009b84, The job failed with the following error: "The logon account that was provided does not have appropriate privileges to back up the SQL database. Either assign the appropriate privileges to this logon account, or use another logon account."

Cause

The domain user account that was provided might not have appropriate privileges to backup the SharePoint server.

Solution

This error represents an expected behavior. The Backup Exec Agent for Microsoft SQL Server always checks for domain administrator rights during test run jobs. The account Backup Exec is using must have domain administrator rights for a test run job, even though the backup job may or may not require domain administrator rights.

Ensure that the user account has domain administrator rights when creating a test run job for SharePoint 2007/SharePoint 2010 resources.
