An export of entire archive to a mailbox may fail with Event ID: 6768 stating 'The mailbox does not have enough space to complete the export archive operation'

Problem

This issue can be seen when exporting the entire archive back to a mailbox.  The calculation to determine the space required in the mailbox is over-estimating the space required and will not allow the export to proceed until the Storage Limits have been increased. 

Error Message

The following event can be seen when the export fails.

Processing aborted. The mailbox does not have enough space to complete the export archive operation. Increase the indicated mailbox storage limits by at least 696551KB and run Export Archive again to export the archived items to the mailbox.

Current mailbox quota used: 24099KB

Set the Prohibit send limit to at least 1720551KB

Set the Prohibit send and receive limit to at least 1720551KB

The Prohibit send limit and Prohibit send and receive limit will both be listed if the calculation for the export exceeds both currently set values. 

Cause

Workaround
1.  Remove the Storage Limits for the user temporarily and perform the export to the mailbox.  Then re-apply the Storage Limits.

2.  Increase the Storage Limits Prohibit send at (KB) and Prohibit send and receive at (KB) values to a value that is double the size in the archive + the current size of the mailbox.  For example, if there is 50 MB in the archive and the mailbox is currently 25 MB then the values should be set to no less than 125000.  

NOTE:  The Total Size (MB) in the archive can be determined by reviewing the usage report for that users vault store.  This can be displayed by going to http://Enterprise_Vault_server_name/enterprisevault/usage.asp and selecting the appropriate vault store.  

3. Adjust Storage Limits to value(s) specified in the Event 6768 details.

 

 

Solution

Symantec Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the version(s) of the product(s) referenced in this article.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a cumulative hotfix or service pack in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time, but is not scheduled for any release.
