MS-SQL backup fails with error code 6 or 2.

Problem

MS-SQL backup operation perform with NetBackup fails with error code 6 or 2.

Cause

The issue occurs if the Encryption is set to Required on the client server, but the Primary Server is not requesting it.

That causes issues while sending the information to the Primary server and it fails the backup job.

Solution

For the MS-SQL Client server experiencing this issue, follow the steps below:

Open the Netbackup Admin console on the master server and Go to >  Host Properties > Clients > Select the SQL Client properies > Encryption and set it to Allowed.

Post this, the backups should work fine.
