NBAC Configuration on Windows servers HA(VCS) fails with error code:160-Authentication failed.

Problem

[NBAC] Unable to configure NBAC on Windows servers HA(VCS).

Error MessageNet

ConfigureTargetHost: bprd failed to grant authorization check permission to host <NBU_Host>

ConfigureTargetHost: bprd failed while attempting to configure NBAC on target host <NBU_Host> , error code:160-Authentication failed.

Cause

NBAC configuration on master server fails while executing “<installPath>\ NetBackup\ bin\admincmd\bpnbaz.exe -SetupMaster” as service user (LOCAL SERVICE) lacks required permissions on “C:\Users\All Users\Veritas” due to which, inheritance is getting disabled on the active node of VCS cluster.

Solution

Enable the inheritance on folder “C:\Users\All Users\Veritas” :

1. Go to folder “C:\Users\All Users\Veritas”
2. Right click on “Properties”
3. Go to “Security” tab -> Click on “Advanced” -> Click on the checkbox of “Replace all child object permission entries with inheritance permission entries from this object” -> Click on “Enable Inheritance”
4. Click on Apply and then Ok.
