Incremental / Differential backups are showing a performance decrease post upgrade to Backup Exec 22

Problem

In certain environments, Incremental / Differential backup jobs are showing a performance decrease post upgrade to Backup Exec 22.
Full backup jobs are not affected.
 

Error Message

There is no error message visible as such within the Backup Exec Job log; however the following message is being displayed when the Backup Exec 22 Remote Agent is installed:

The Windows Change Journal is unavailable or incomplete. This resource will be backed up without using the Windows Change Journal.



Cause

In certain situation the respond to the request for the Change Journal is not as expected.

 

Solution

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time.  However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article. 
Please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 22.1.

WORKAROUND:
Uninstall the Backup Exec 22 Remote Agent and install the Backup Exec 21.4 Remote Agent
