Problem

Bare Metal Restore - Creating a Windows Shared Resource Tree (SRT) gives error "/features switch are not available: Optionid:.WindowsPreinstallationEnvironment"

Error Message

Windows Assessment And Deployment Kit - Windows 10

The following features specified by the /features switch are not available: Optionid:.WindowsPreinstallationEnvironment"

Please check for valid options by running setup with "/list"

Cause

A version of Microsoft Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) has been installed that is not of the same version and build as would be installed by Bare Metal Restore Boot server and the version has different switches than expected by BMR.

Solution

ADK 10 build 1607 is installed by BMR on the first creation of an SRT and it is recommended to only have this version on the boot server.

(1) Delete all existing Windows SRTs that reside on the affected Boot server, using the Java console.

(2) Check and delete all previous SRT folder paths

(3) Delete the *.wim files located at path <Install_Path>\NetBackup\BareMetal\server\data

(4) Run the command (run as Admin) <Install_Path>\NetBackup\bin\bmrsetupboot -deregister

(5) Un-install any Microsoft ADK 's form add/remove programs in Control Panel

(6) Set the Boot server role. Run the command (run as Administrator) <Install_Path>\NetBackup\bin\bmrsetupboot -register.

(7) Use the following technote to Create a new SRT by manual download of the correct ADK.

(8) Alternatively - so long as the boot server has internet access - using the Boot server assistant to create a new (first) SRT and use the option "Automatic download of Windows ADK and installation" should install the correct version.
