Performance decrease for Full Catalog jobs if the NFS client service is running on the Backup Exec server
Problem
When the NFS (Network File System) client service is running on the Backup Exec server, there is a delay from launch of a Full Catalog job until it actually starts to run.
This issue is only seen for VM backups, when the following catalog option is specified within the job settings:
"Run a full catalog operation as a separate job immediately after the backup job finishes"
There is no performance decrease visible when using the "Enable Instant GRT" catalog option within the job settings.
Cause
This delay is caused by the NFS client service running on the Backup Exec server.
Solution
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 21.3
Workaround for earlier Backup Exec versions:
- Use "Enable Instant GRT" as the Catalog option
or
- Uninstall the NFS client option from the Operating System
