Problem
Active directory individual item restore from a GRT enabled backup set of a Active Direct VMware Virtual machine completes successfully, but no items are restored.
Error Message
Restore completes successfully but no items are restored.
Restore debug shows the following error for beremote process -
BEREMOTE: [01/14/21 11:57:08] [6580] [fsys\adgran] - DSProv:Error status:12 (-4001/-4001 A read was issued to a location beyond the EOF (writes

Cause
Solution
The Issue is seen when the Backup set resides on Data Domain OST. Restore works fine if the AD GRT VM backup is taken on a disk storage.
Workaround :
1. If running VM Based Backup, then backing up to normal disk storage would allow a restore of individual items.
OR
2. Backup the Active Directory as part of System State agent based backup with GRT to OST as the Issue is not seen in agent based Backup.
