Job Log reports a Connection Error against the wrong Hyper-V guest, if it is shut down.

Problem

In a multi-server Hyper-V backup, that includes a Hyper-V guest that is turned off, the Backup Exec Job History Log will report a connection failure against the last server successfully backed up and not the server that is turned off.

 

Error Message

e0000f25 - An error occurred while connecting to this server. Common causes of this error are: the computer name you entered is incorrect, the computer is not turned on, a Backup Exec agent is not installed

This will be reported against the last server that successfully backed up, not the server that is turned off

 

Solution

A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Articles to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
 
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 21.4
