Problem

Error ”There were no storage locations found on the server” is reported while configuring a cloud storage device in Backup Exec.

Error Message

There were no storage locations found on the server.

Solution

  • Ensure that you have already created the bucket/container. A bucket or storage container represents a logical unit of storage on the cloud-based storage device. (Refer vendor guidelines on how to create a bucket/container).
  • Ensure that the name of the bucket/container which was created in the cloud portal does not have any special characters like “! @ # $ % ^ & * _ + ”. Bucket names may be made up of lower case letters, numbers, and hyphen and the name may not begin with a hyphen.
  • As a best practice, create specific buckets to use exclusively with Backup Exec. Each cloud storage device within Backup Exec must use a different bucket. Do not use the same bucket for multiple cloud storage devices even if these devices are configured on different Backup Exec servers.
  • Verify the AWS credentials used in creating the cloud storage device are correct.  AWS permissions require the AWS Access Key Account and the Secret Key for access from Backup Exec.
