FSA Placeholders are recalled unexpectedly when opening the right-click context menu.

Problem

When users access content, from their client systems, on remote file servers that has been archived and converted to Placeholders, right-clicking the Placeholder may trigger a recall.

When performing the same operation locally on the file server Placeholders are not recalled, which is the expected behaviour.

Error Message

Cause

This behaviour may be triggered by Windows Explorer Shell Extensions added by some applications.

When the right-click context menu is opened, some applications' shell extension may request the full content stream associated with the Placeholder. 

Solution

File System Archiving cannot control or prevent this behaviour.

For customers who require the relevant Applications that add shell extensions to Windows Explorer, an alternative recall method can be configured using the PassThrough feature in FSA.
