How to configure Veritas Alta Archiving usage notifications

With usage notifications, an email can be sent to selected email addresses when a certain percentage of committed usage is exceeded. 

Note: By default, this feature is disabled. 

Below are steps needed to enable usage notifications, and how to edit the settings of usage notifications:

If the committed usage amount needs to be reduced, you may need to disable inactive mailboxes.  Please refer to article number 100042774, "How to Check User Counts and Disable Inactive Mailboxes"

Enabling usage notifications

  1. In the left navigation pane, expand Reports and Notifications, and then select Notifications.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Under Usage Notifications, click Notifications so that they are ENABLED.

 

 


Changing usage notification threshold and frequency

By default, emails are sent when 80 percent of committed usage is reached weekly. The percentage rate at which emails are sent and the frequency of notifications can be adjusted by following the below steps:

  1. In the left navigation pane, expand Reports and Notifications, and then select Notifications.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Do any of the following:
  • To change the percentage at which notification emails are sent
    • Under Usage Notification Threshold, in the Notify if commit usage exceeds option, select a new percentage.
  • To change the frequency of notification emails
    • Under Notification Frequency, select the interval you want to use.
      The following intervals are available:
      • Quarterly - Notifications are sent on the first Monday of each quarter. The quarters start in January, April, July, and October.
      • Monthly - Notifications are sent on the first Monday of each month.
      • Weekly - Notifications are sent every Monday. This is the default frequency.
      • Daily - Notifications are sent every day.

Notification emails are sent at 9 a.m. in the default company time zone.


Adding email address for usage notifications

System administrator's email addresses are added automatically to the list of notification recipients. 50 additional email addresses can be added to receive usage notifications.  To add email addresses for usage notifications:

  1. In the left-hand pane, expand Reports and Notifications, and then select Notifications.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Under Notification Emails, type an email address, and then click Add.
