Product(s): Backup Exec

Problem

Network setting changes from a Preferred network interface to "Use any available Network Interface"  after reboot of the media server with NIC teaming.

Error Message

None

Cause

Depending on the NIC teaming configuration, the NIC teaming uses the media access control (MAC) address of the primary NIC Team member.
The Operating System selects the primary NIC team member as the first team member to bind to the team when the server is restarted.
Backup Exec identifies Teamed Network using the MAC address and since the MAC address changes, Backup Exec is not able to find the teaming and reverts this setting back to the default value of "Use any available Network interface".

Solution

Workaround:

Assign static MAC address to each network team.
Please refer to your Manufacturers Guide for more details how to perform this step.
