NetBackup 8.1 now introduces the ability to protect data using Amazon Glacier storage for long-term retention.

  • Using NetBackup, you can create a storage server with GLACIER storage class.

  • GLACIER storage class is in addition to the existing STANDARD and STANDARD IA storage classes.

  • During the backup process, NetBackup internally uses the Amazon’s zero-day lifecycle policy to transition data to Glacier.

Note: GLACIER storage class configuration is only supported using the csconfig CLI. Also, after you configure the GLACIER storage class, x-amz-storage-class is not visible under the Advanced Server Configuration dialog box of the Cloud Storage Server Configuration wizard.
