Problem
When configuring a VMware policy with multiple vmclients AND Enable Exchange Recovery is selected, the following error is observed:Policy: <POLICY NAME>
Application Protection options for VMware policies are only valid when using the query option for the virtual machine selection in the clients tab
Please note that the use of the automatic query is referenced in the various Netbackup Exchange Server Admin Guides under the "About configuring a VMware backup that protects Exchange Server" section. Excerpt:
"On the Clients tab, click Select automatically through query."
Error Message
Error code 223: an invalid entry was encountered(Status 223)
Error Code / Message: error 223
Cause
Observed that the policy was configured with the Select manually option AND Application Protection / Enable Exchange Recovery is selected.Solution
Steps to Solution:1. Open NetBackup Administration Console
2. Open the policy in question
3. Select Clients tab
4. Choose Select automatically through VMware Intelligent Policy query
5. Change Field: to Displayname AND Operator: AnyOf
6. Select (add) the VMware clients via the browse option
7. Click OK
8. Select Test Query, query was successful
9. Select the VMware tab
10. Select Enable Exchange Recovery
11. Click OK
