Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: NDMP backup path fails with "contained in a pool that is unusable by this NDMP Server"

Problem

NetBackup NDMP backup of the ZFS appliance volume fails with <volume> contained in a pool that is unusable by this NDMP server

Error Message

The NetBackup detailed job status reports :
04/21/2016 20:37:50 - Error ndmpagent (pid=247071) estorage: /export/apps/ignite_binaries_igbam2 is contained in a pool that is unusable by this NDMP server
04/21/2016 20:37:50 - Error ndmpagent (pid=247071) ndmp_data_start_backup failed, status = 9 (NDMP_ILLEGAL_ARGS_ERR)

Cause

Issue has been seen after taking system configuration backup of the ZFS appliance. The configuration backup process clears the NDMP SMF property  elig-resources/zpools

Solution

The workaround stated in Oracle Document 2094814.1 is to restart the Appliance Kit Management Daemon (AKD) through the CLI or via the BUI.

• FTP server
• NIS
• LDAP
• AD
• DNS client
• Replication
