Problem
Although most NBAC problems can be resolved without resetting NBAC, it may become necessary to reset NBAC to an out-of-the-box state. At which point NBAC can either remain unconfigured or it can be reconfigured for ongoing use.
Resetting NBAC is a complicated procedure. The steps vary between NetBackup versions 7.0 and earlier, 7.1 and 7.5, 7.6 and newer. The steps will also vary depending on the Operating System of the Master Server and if NetBackup is configured as Highly Available or not.
Most NBAC problems do not require NBAC to be reset. Veritas encourages customers who are encountering NBAC problems to open a case with NetBackup Support in an effort to resolve the issue without resetting NBAC.
If the NetBackup Support Engineer decides a reset of NBAC is the only way to proceed, the Support Engineer will have access to an array of internal documentation to assist with the reset procedure. Thus a supervised reset of NBAC can occur and the reset steps are less likely to be performed improperly.
Solution
