Cause

The above error is generated while performing a backup to a tape using  Backup Exec.

Solution  

This error is usually resolved by performing one or more of the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure that the media is present in the tape drive.
  2. Perform an inventory job on the tape drive so that the media in the drive is recognized.
  3. Stop the Removable Storage Management (RSM) service.
  4. Make sure that the latest  Tape Drivers are installed.
  5. If the device is connected to a RAID controller, move it to a separate SCSI controller.
  6. Check the Windows Event Viewer System log for Event ID 7, 9, 11 or 15.
