Problem

How to establish trust for remote servers in Backup Exec.

Solution

When connecting to a remote computer from the Backup Exec server, a trust needs to be established between the Backup Exec server and the remote computer. This trust must also be established when configuring a remote computer to perform client-side deduplication. Check the IP address for the remote computer to ensure that the remote computer is a trusted source before establishing the trust. On verifying that the remote computer is a trusted source, the trust with Backup Exec server can be established.

Backup Exec issues a security certificate for both the Backup Exec server and the remote computer. The security certificate is valid for approximately one year and is automatically renewed during normal operations. However, if the certificate expires the trust must be re-established.
