Troubleshooting:
Users are unable to get full control over the Backup Archive and Restore console, when the user belongs to the
NBU_Admin and
NBU_Operator group in NBAC.
- The "Destination client for restores" option under File > Specify NetBackup Machines and Policy type is grayed out for Windows 2008 servers:
Cause:
Windows 2008 User Account Control (UAC) causes nbwin.exe to run without sufficient privileges to complete the operation.
Windows 2008 User Account Control (UAC) causes nbwin.exe to run without sufficient privileges to complete the operation.
- When logged in as Administrator, by default processes do not run with administrative privileges when User Account Control is engaged.
Resolution:
To run nbwin.exe with the needed permissions, right click on
nbwin.exe and select
Run as Administrator.
The Backup, Archive and Restore GUI will open and now have the correct privileges to perform alternate client restores.
- The Destination client for restores field will not be grayed out.
