Problem

Backup jobs fail with error "The job was automatically canceled because it exceeded the job's maximum configured run time."

Error Message

The following Event ID is logged in the Event Viewer Application Log after a job is canceled because of Automatic Cancellation time configured in Backup Exec.

A Job Cancellation alert is also displayed in the Backup Exec console. This alert is generated after the job has been canceled by Backup Exec.

Other error codes can occur including:

V-79-57344-3361 - E0000D21 - The media operation was terminated by the user. The job was automatically canceled because it exceeded the job's maximum configured run time.

Cause

The job will be automatically canceled by Backup Exec, if the job's run time exceeds the configured 'Automatic Cancellation time'

Solution

1. Edit the cancelled backup job.
2. Click on Schedule.
3. Increase or Disable the Automatic cancellation time
