Problem

Changes to the Default Network Interface setting from "Use any available Network Interface" to a Preferred Network Interface Card selection will not stay selected.

Error Message

If the environment contains a Windows server running multiple Virtual Local Area Networks ( VLAN ), when attempting to change the Default Network Interface setting from "use any available Network Interface" to a Preferred Network Interface Card (NIC), the selected entry will not stay selected.

Cause

This issue seems to occur if the backup server has multiple VLAN's bound to one NIC, or one set of teamed NIC's. This setup will give multiple NIC entries the same MAC address. Backup Exec identifies network interface using MAC address and since all virtual NIC's have same MAC address the issur occurs.
