Problem

GENERAL ERROR: The Veritas Private Branch Exchange Service (PBX) will not start. As a result, other NetBackup services will not start.

Error Message

Status 334: EMM interface initialization failed

Solution

Overview:
The Veritas Private Branch Exchange Service (PBX) will not start.  As a result, other NetBackup services will not start.  If other NetBackup services fail to start then other messages, such as Status 334 (EMM interface initialization failed) may occur.


Troubleshooting:
In environments where this issue has occurred, it has been discovered that the pbxservice.cmd file is missing or corrupted.
pbxservice.cmd is in the following location:
<Install_Path>\VxPBX\bin



Log Files:  N/A


Resolution:
Obtain a copy of the pbxservice.cmd file from a NetBackup installation that does not experience this issue, from the following path:
<Install_Path>\VxPBX\bin

Then, copy it to the same location on the affected server, overwriting the existing file.  The PBX service should now start.
