How to change the Job log path and Catalog path in Backup Exec?

Solution

The job logs and catalogs can be saved to a path other than the default path in Backup Exec by performing the steps listed below.

1. Start BEUtility.exe from C:\Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec .
2. Expand Known Media Servers.
3. Right-click All Media Servers and select New Media Server.
4. Enter the name of the media server, and click OK.
5. Right click on the Media Server name and select the option Set Job Log and Catalog Locations. (Figure 1)

To change the job log path:

1. Select the option Change job log location. (Figure 2)

2. Click Browse and set the desired path.

Note: A path on a remote server cannot be selected as "Destination Job log path".

To change the catalog path:

1. Select the option Change catalog location. (Figure 3)

2. Click Browse and set the desired path.

Note: A path on a remote server cannot be selected as "Destination Catalog Path".

To get the old Catalog information back, Stop SQL service for Backup Exec, copy the old catalog files to the Catalogs folder created on the new path.
