Error Message

1 . 0xe00084e9 - No media in storage device

2. " V-79-57344-34025- No media in storage device. "

Solution

Absence of media in the storage device is the general cause of such an error. Check the "Alerts" tab in Backup Exec for accompanying alerts such as "Insert Media." Large backup jobs that span multiple tapes could also result in such an error if sufficient media is not provided and an additional media is required.

The following information alert may be generated in the Alerts tab of Backup Exec : ( Figure 1)

Solution:

If the media is available to Backup Exec but the software is not recognizing it, perform the following:

Note: Before following the steps given below, make sure there is useable, inventoried media in the storage device.

1. Stop the Removable Storage (RSM) service and make sure that the service is disabled in the Services applet.

2. Install the latest Veritas device drivers:

  https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US.html

3. Erase the media/tape and try performing the backup job again.

4. Make sure that the media is compatible with the tape drive.

5. Ensure that the SCSI ID 0,1 and 7 are not assigned to the Tape Library/Drive. For details on proper SCSI ID configuration, see the Related Documents section.

6. Update the SCSI controller card driver. For instructions on checking the version of the SCSI driver, see the Related Documents section.

7. Look for Event ID 0, 9 or 11 in the Event Viewer log. If any of these Event ID errors are seen, see the Related Documents section for troubleshooting steps.

8. Make sure that the tape drive is not connected to a RAID controller card. If a RAID card is in use, move the tape hardware to a separate SCSI card.

9. Try using a different media for backup.

Note : If this is a Backup-To-Disk (B2D) error, create a new B2D destination folder and test the job.
