Product(s): Enterprise Vault
Problem
By default, Vault Cache data is stored under the following location:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\KVS\Enterprise Vault\
This may not be an appropriate storage location for the end user depending on the size of their Offline Vault. The storage location can be changed by making a change in the Registry or through the Vault Admin Console.
Solution
There are two options available to move the Vault Cache data location:
Option 1: Vault Admin Console Configuration
- Within the Desktop Policy properties, click on the Advanced tab and select Vault Cache from the drop down.
- Click on Root folder and select Modify.
- Enter the location in which to place the Offline Vault data.
- Synchronize the affected mailbox to apply the new Desktop policy setting.
Note: The Offline Vault must be completely rebuilt after changing the 'Root folder' as this value does not affect any existing instance of Offline Vault.
Option 2: Windows Registry configuration on the client side
- Open the Windows registry on the client computer.
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
- Browse to the following key and reflect the new path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Client\OVRootDirectory
- Within the Outlook Client, open Tools > Enterprise Vault > Offline Vault Options and clear the Enable offline vault check box.
- Restart the Outlook Client.
- Within the Outlook Client, open Tools > Enterprise Vault > Offline Vault Options and select the Enable offline vault check box.
- Restart the Outlook Client. A message will notify that the Offline Vault is running its initial search.
Note: The Offline Vault must be completely rebuilt as changing the registry value does not affect any existing instance of the Offline Vault.
