Product(s): NetBackup
Problem
When a user tries to login to a particular NetBackup host using the Java GUI, an error message displays with the status 519: "The NetBackup host that you want to connect to is not properly configured to perform authentication. The service account for the NetBackup Legacy Network Service must be a member of the Administrators group and have certain local security privileges.Error Message
Unable to login, status: 519The NetBackup host that you are connecting to does not have sufficient privileges for authentication.
Cause
The host is not able to authenticate users because the service account used for NetBackup Legacy Network Service running there does not have the necessary privileges. The host can be a NetBackup Master, Media or Client machine.By default, the NetBackup Legacy Network Service, responsible for initiating the authentication process, uses Local System account to log on. However, some agents (for example, SharePoint or Exchange) need the host (Media or Client) to run this service with a different service account. In such cases, this service account needs to have additional local security privileges and be a member of the Administrators group.
Solution
This article applies to Windows hosts where the NetBackup Legacy Network Service is running with a service account (domain\username) other than Local System.Perform the following steps to give the service account the required privileges on the Windows host:
1. Log in to the Windows host.
2. Open the Local Security Policy ( click Start, type: secpol.msc )
3. Open Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment.
4. Add the service account (domain\username) to the following:
- Replace a process level token
- Act as part of the operating system
- Adjust memory quotas for a process
6. Restart the NetBackup Legacy Network Service.
After completing these changes, try again to log on to the host from the Java GUI.
