Problem

The following issues have been reported against the ActiveDirectory (AD) support provided with the NetBackup Appliances 2.6.0.3 release:

  • Users are unable to configure AD as an authentication mechanism against AD with LDAP SASL communication enabled
  • Excessive communication with AD server while performing add/remove/grant/revoke/list operations
  • Authorization-List command does not work when CLISH is launched with switch2admin command from NetbackupCLI prompt
  • Changes (add/remove user from group) performed on AD take long time to reflect
  • Updated Samba RPMs are required to address RPC failures and out of memory errors

Solution

Veritas Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue (Etrack 3623724) is present in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Veritas Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. This issue was scheduled to be addressed in a future maintenance release or update of the product.

Workaround:
For 2.6.0.3 Appliances, an Emergency Engineering Binary (EEB) is available by contacting Veritas technical support, referencing this article and Etrack 3614125.
