VMware Instant Recovery fails with Status 130 due to network connectivity failure between ESX host and Restore Host

Problem

When performing VMware Instant Recovery it may fail with Status 130 when the ports required to connect to the NFS server created by NetBackup are not opened between the ESX and the Media Server.

Error Message

Job Details:

Error bprd  Failed to mount a backup image on the server <ESX_Host> system error occurred(130)

VMware vSphere client reports error during NFS mount:

NFS mount <backup_host>:/NBUFS_F_<ESX_Host>_<backup_host> failed: Unable to connect to NFS server

 

Cause

 Firewall between the ESX host and the restore host was blocking port 7394 (nbfsd) and/or 111 (portmap).

Solution

Open TCP ports 7394 and 111 from the target ESX server to the media server
