The NetBackup Device Monitor says READY = No for drives.

Problem

The NetBackup Device Monitor says READY = No for tape drives.

Solution

This is a normal condition if there is no tape cartridge in the tape drive.  If " Ready" column indicates " yes", this indicates a tape cartridge is in the drive and is ready for reading or writing operations.

In a robotic library, " Ready" should indicate "No" unless there is a backup or restore running to a tape cartridge on that tape drive.

In a stand alone drive, " Ready" should indicate "Yes" if the administrator has inserted a tape cartridge in the tape drive.
