Problem

V-79-57344-65245 - System State backup of a Windows 2008 Server can fail with error "A failure occurred accessing the object list" when Quark License Administrator Server 4.5  is installed

Cause

This problem can occur when Quark License Administrator Server 4.5 is installed on the server. In the registry key for Quark License Administrator the image paths are set to "X:\Program files (x86)\quark/quark_license_administrator.”  Volume Shadow Copy Service currently cannot recognize a path with a forward slash “/ “ and the backup fails because of it.

  

Solution

To fix the issue follow the steps given below
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
  1. Stop the Quark License Administrator Server service
  2. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
  3. Modify the "Image path" for the registry keys below replacing the forward slas "/"  with a backslash "\" (Listed Below)
  4. Close the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.exe)
  5. Start the Quark License Administrator Server service
  6. Restart the Backup Exec services on the media server and on the server the job is failing on.
