Why is there a “SLP_Multiple_Lifcycle” SLP Policy running from time to time as part of the Duplication process?
Problem
An SLP policy called “SLP_Multiple_Lifcycle” runs from time to time as part of the duplication process although this SLP was never manually created.
Error Message
The following line is seen in the bperror output:
policy name SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle, policy type 36, schedule name Dup, schedule type 2,
Cause
The SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle feature introduced new grouping logic that places images from multiple lifecycles into the same duplication job if the lifecycles have the same priority. Prior behavior would group images by lifecycle name. If any SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle duplications are created, then all duplications are marked this way.
Solution
There is no need to correct this behavior as the program is working as designed.
If desired, the feature can be disabled by setting DUPLICATION_GROUP_CRITERIA to 0 in the netbackup/db/config/LIFECYCLE_PARAMETERS file.
Note that this change is not recommended.
The configuration parameters for the Storage LifeCycle Policy are stored in the following directory: /usr/openv/netbackup/db/class_internal/SLP_Multiple_Lifecycle
