Problem

Support for Storage Foundation High Availability (SFHA) Solutions and InfoScale on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 (RHEL 6.7)

Storage Foundation High Availability (SFHA) solutions 6.0.x, 6.1.x, 6.2.x and InfoScale 7.0, by default do not support RHEL 6.7 due to an incompatibility with the kernel interface. If used, some kernel modules may fail to start.

Solution

 

SFHA/InfoScale version Support
6.0.5 Veritas have released patch sfha-rhel6.7_x86_64-Patch-6.0.5.300 to support RHEL 6.7

This patch requires SFHA 6.0.5 to be installed.

Veritas is aware of an  issue with the default ksh binary in RHEL 6.7  which has been Acknowledged by Red Hat. This issue affects the CVMVolDg resource used in  Storage Foundation Cluster File System ( SFCFS ) & Storage Foundation for Oracle  RAC  ( SFRAC). Due to this issue, it is possible that whilst CFSMount resource is being used, ksh may core dump, thus putting the CVMVolDG agent into an unknown state. Red Hat have released a ksh fix for this issue. Veritas recommends applying this ksh fix to resolve the issue.

Prior the to the fix from Red Hat, Veritas had released two hotfixes ( vcscvm-rhel6_x86_64-HotFix-6.0.5.101 & vcs-rhel6_x86_64-HotFix-6.0.5.003 ) to address the issue. Since that time, Red Hat has released a ksh fix that obseletes the need for the Veritas Hot fix. For customers that have deployed the hotfix, it is recommended to apply the ksh fix from red hat.

If SFHA is being installed for the first time, the SFHA 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 base software must be installed, along with SFHA 6.0.5 and the SFHA 6.0.5.300 patch.

This can be done using the traditional multi-step approach or in a single step using the  Install Bundles  feature. Install Bundles remove the requirement to install software and patches in a serial fashion. Refer to the Patch installation instruction for more information.


 
6.1.1 Veritas have released patch sfha-rhel6.7_x86_64-Patch-6.1.1.300  to support RHEL 6.7

This patch requires SFHA 6.1.1 to be installed.

Oracle Linux (OL) 6.7
Patch sfha-rhel6.7_x86_64-Patch-6.2.1.100 can also be used to support OL6.7 (RHEL Compatibility mode). The latest ksh binary should be used to avoid the shell issue (see above) which affects CVMVolDg resource in SFCFS and SFRAC

7.0 Veritas have released patch infoscale-rhel6.7_x86_64-Patch-7.0.0.100 to support RHEL 6.7
 

This patch requires InfoScale 7.0 to be installed

No hot fixes were produced to workaround the ksh issue for InfoScale 7.0, as the Red Hat fix was already available.

Note: RHEL 6.7 is not supported with SFHA 5.x
