Problem

Error: "Cannot update settings." when restoring a Cluster Quorum Volume using Veritas System Recovery

Error Message

-Info 6C8F1C25: Cannot update settings.
--The recovery point is an active Cluster Quorum Volume.
Take the Cluster offline and try again.

Solution

To restore the Quorum Volume

  1. Shut down the secondary nodes.
  2. Start the primary node.
  3. On the Server Manager, expand Configuration. Then select Services.
  4. Right-click Cluster Service, and then select Properties.
  5. Change startup type to Manual, and stop Cluster Service.
  6. On the Server Manager, expand Diagnostics. Then select Device Manager.
  7. Right-click Cluster Disk Driver in System devices, and then select Disable.
  8. Reboot the primary node.
  9. Confirm that Quorum Volume is online.
  10. Restore the Quorum Volume with only the option "Restore Original Disk Signature" enabled.
  11. After restoring the Quorum Volume, enable Cluster Disk Driver and change Cluster Service startup type to Automatic.
  12. Reboot the primary node.
  13. Start the secondary nodes.
