Problem
When performing a NDMP incremental backup on a NetApp filer the backup will run as a full.
Error Message
The BPERROR log records the condition:
12/10/2010 10:00:12 nbsrv1 - ignoring unrecognized flag(s) -dmplevel 2
12/10/2010 10:00:13 nbsrv1 - ignoring unrecognized flag(s) -dmplevel 2
Check the BPBRM log for the following error:
UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpbrm/
Windows: \Install_path\netbackup\logs\bpbrm\
<2> bpbrm read_parent_msg: read from parent START BACKUP -c foros-dev-ndmp -ct 19 -ru root -cl z-ndmp-dumplevel-test -sched Diff_inc -bt 1290037609 -dt 1026 -st 1 -b foros-dev-ndmp_1290037609 -jobid 1083 -jobgrpid 1083 -rl 0 -rp 604800 -use_ofb -use_otm -secure 1 -kl 28 -rg root -fso -dmplevel 1 -connect_options 16974338
<2> bpbrm process_start_backup_msg: processing START BACKUP message.
<16> bpbrm process_start_backup_msg: ignoring unrecognized flag(s) -dmplevel 2
Note: BPBRM can record a dmplevel 1.
Example:
09:15:22.506 [8847] <2> bpbrm process_start_backup_msg: processing START BACKUP message.
09:15:22.507 [8847] <16> bpbrm process_start_backup_msg: ignoring unrecognized flag(s) -dmplevel 1
Cause
The problem occurs when the dump level reverts to 0 when the -dmplevel parameter is not passed to the ndmpagent.
