Problem

After upgrading to NetBackup 7.6.1 or 7.6.1.1, VMware Snapshots are intermittently hanging, either during snapshot creation or during snapshot deletion on a Windows VMware Backup Host.

Cause

There was a problem with the method use to initialize VDDK.

Solution

The formal resolution for this issue (Etrack 3735612) is included in the following release:
  • NetBackup 7.6.1 Maintenance Release 2 (7.6.1.2)
NetBackup 7.6.1.2 is now available - download and README information can be found in the Related Article.

Workaround:
A hotfix is attached to this document for NetBackup 7.6.1.1.

Note: This hotfix is no longer publicly available, as all of its fixes are included in NetBackup 7.6.1.2.  If this issue is experienced, the supported resolution is to apply the latest maintenance release.
