Die OpenStack Platform von Red Hat ist eine hochskalierbare Infrastructure-as-a-Service-Lösung (IaaS), die OpenStack um wichtige fortschrittliche Funktionen für die Cloud erweitert. Sie integriert das bewährte Fundament von Red Hat Enterprise Linux mit Red Hats Open- Stack-Technologie und bildet so eine stabile, leistungsfähige Cloud-Umgebung für Produktionsumgebungen. OpenStack entwickelt sich immer mehr zur ersten Wahl für Kunden, die nach einer agilen, kostengünstigen Open-Source-Lösung suchen. Eine Umfrage unter rund 2000 Nutzern hatte kürzlich ergeben, dass 65 Prozent der Befragten OpenStack in Produktionsumgebungen einsetzen, vor zwei Jahren waren es noch 33 Prozent. Trotzdem können noch Probleme auftreten, wenn es darum geht, konventionelle Workloads (Mode 1) in OpenStack auszuführen. Gründe dafür sind die hohen Anforderungen bei Leistung und Verlässlichkeit. Effektives Speichermanagement, das – unabhängig vom Umfang – die nötige Qualität anbietet, ist deshalb ein wichtiger Bestandteil, wenn OpenStack auch diese Workloads abwickeln soll.
