Veritas NetBackup Server / Enterprise Server 8.3 and later Linux rules file for configuring persistent robotic paths
Abstract
Description
This package contains Linux rules files that enable configuration of persistent robotic paths for Linux media servers running NetBackup 8.3 and later.
When the rules file has been downloaded and installed in the specified directory, NetBackup uses /dev/tape/by-path type paths that persist across SAN interruptions. If this rules file is not present, NetBackup continues to use the /dev/sg type paths.

Veritas recommends downloading and installing this package if your configuration contains a Linux media server being used for robotic control.
This file is for the following NetBackup configuration only and will not work with earlier NetBackup releases:
- NetBackup Media Server 8.3 or later
Installation Procedure
1. Download the zip file package for the Red Hat version you're running, and extract it to a temporary folder:
Red Hat 7 & 8: 60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas.zip
Red Hat 6: 60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas-rh6.zip
This will create one file in the temporary location:
Red Hat 7 & 8: 60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas.rules
Red Hat 6: 60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas-rh6.rules
2. Copy the rules file from the temporary location to /etc/udev/rules.d/:
Red Hat 7 & 8: cp /temp_dir/60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
Red Hat 6: cp /temp_dir/60-persistent-storage-tape-vtas-rh6.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
3. Reload the udev daemon:
udevadm control --reload && udevadm trigger
