Abstract

VMware virtual machine entered into emergency mode at first boot after successful restore.

Description

Veritas Bug ID: ET 4047114

 

Version:  NetBackup 9.1

 

Problem Description:  VMware virtual machine entered into emergency mode at first boot after successful restore.

 

Conditions:

  1. On RHEL vm created a disk size of 17TB.
  2. On this disk created EXT4 fs of 17TB and mounted.
  3. Kept the "exclude deleted blocks" setting checked.
  4. Performed VM backup.
  5. Once backup is complete performed full vm restore.
  6. VMware virtual machine entered into emergency mode at first boot after successful restore.

Or

  1. On RHEL vm created a disk size of two 9TB.
  2. Consolidating disks with LVM.
  3. On this disk created EXT4 fs of 18TB volume and mounted.
  4. Kept the "exclude deleted blocks" setting checked.
  5. Performed VM backup.
  6. Once backup is complete performed full vm restore.
  7. VMware virtual machine entered into emergency mode at first boot after successful restore.
