To run the Disk Firmware Update Readiness Analyzer tool:

1. On the NetBackup Appliance Console, navigate to the Main_Menu > Manage > Software view.

2. Run the following command: Share Open

3. Mount or map the appliance share using the mount path in the command output.

4. Download the tool package: SYMC_NBAPP_update_Disk_FW_ReadinessAnalyzer-3.1.2.noarch.rpm

5. Copy the tool package to the mounted share.

6. Return to the shell menu, from the Manage > Software view, run the following command: List Downloaded

7. Run the Install command to run the Disk Firmware Update Readiness Analyzer tool.

Note: For appliances with software version 2.5.x, you can view the logs on screen immediately after you run the command.

• When the following message appears, you do not need to install any disk firmware EEB.

-[Info] The current disk firmware does not need to update. For more information, refer to the article 000125147.

• When the following message appears, you must install the disk firmware EEB. Refer to the knowledge article 'Disk Firmware Failures Impacts on the NetBackup Appliance products' for the EEB.

- [Info] The current disk firmware needs an update. For more information, refer to the article 000125147.

• When the following error message appears, go to Step 9 to review the logs for troubleshooting, and then contact Veritas Technical Support.

- [Error] The Disk Firmware Update Readiness Analyzer Tool could not run. For more information, contact the Technical Support.

8. Run the Share Close command to close the appliance shares.

9. (Optional) To check the tool logs:

• For software release 2.5.x, review the logs on screen.
• For software release 2.6.0.1 and later, run the following command: Support > Logs > Vxlogview Module SWUpdate
