Cause

# su - habdbsync

Last login: Wed Aug  8 10:36:36 CEST 2025

/usr/bin/id: cannot find name for group ID 99999

The habdbsync user and group are created/added when VIOM is installed, but they were getting deleted due to a Linux Hardening script implemented in the environment.

Solution

The group was manually recreated

# groupadd -g 99999 -o habdbsync

and the 'su - habdbsync' command was now successful.

# su - habdbsync

Last login: Wed Aug  8 10:40:25 CEST 2025

The upgrade to VIOM 9.0.0.100 completed successfully.

The above recreation of the group allowed the upgrade to complete. However a follow-on action was required within the environment to make sure that the habdbsync user and group didn't get deleted afterwards.
