Problem

NDMP duplicate job which is scheduled or is run manually with verify selected to run as part of the job, fails with error "0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server"

Error Message

The Job Log shows the following error :

Unexpected processing message sent to class VerifyMessageHandler < class SetCopyJob >  : class eng_msgs::sms_status
0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed while connecting to the server. Ensure the user account has the appropriate
permissions and the password was entered correctly.

Cause

Credentials do not get passed to run the verify phase of the duplicate job. The duplicate backup works but it fails to start the verification as part of the duplicate job.

Solution

This issue is resolved with Backup Exec 25.1.

It should be noted that authentication failure is still seen for the duplicate job when only snapshot folder in NDMP filer selection is selected for backup and duplicate is run with the Most recent setting. The backup of only the snapshot folder is not supported as it is not required so this error can be mitigated by making a volume selection and not just the snapshot folder.

Workaround (For older releases before BE 25.1)
If the duplicate job is set to run as a linked job (of the primary job), then this error during verification is not seen.
