Cause

The NetBackup Appliance added security features, causing the NetBackup commands to fail.

Solution

1) Log into the NetBackup Appliance CLISH as admin and run the AllowSelfService.

Manage  >  NetBackupCLI  >  AllowSelfService

2) Add the following Advanced Parameter to the Parameters drop down menu with the /tmp directory that was setup in Step 2 in guide Configure NetBackup Appliances for Data Collection:

  • Name: NBU_SSH_TMPDIR
  • Default Value: /tmp

3) In the Portal UI go to: Admin > Advanced > Parameters > Add > Add:

4) Assign the Advanced Parameter to the Collector, the Appliance Host, and Change Value to the path that was created on the Appliance (Step 2 & 3 from Link below) , and click OK:

Additional Note: When adding a Host, be sure that the entry matches the Internal Name from the policies NBU Primary Server.

5) In the Portal UI add a comment in the Short Notes field and click OK to save:
Admin > Data Collection > Collector Administration > Select a Collector > Edit:
Edit Collector

6) On the Data Collector server, execute updateconfig.sh|bat to get the latest collectorconfig.xml generated.

  • Linux:
Log into server as root and execute:
    <APTARE_HOME>/mbs/bin/updateconfig.sh

  • Windows:
Open an administrative Windows Command Prompt and execute:
    <APTARE_HOME>\mbs\bin\updateconfig.bat
