Client no longer in any backup policies but still shows up under Host Properties -> Clients in NetBackup Administration Console.

Problem

After removing NetBackup client from all backup policies, it still shows up in NetBackup Administration Console under Host Properties > Clients.  The client does not appear in the Summary of All Policies view and attempts to delete the client manually fail:

# bpclient -client <client_name> -delete
bpclient: no entity was found (227).

Error Message

no entity was found (227).

Cause

Although the client was not in any backup policy, it was present in a Deployment Policy under:

NetBackup Administration Console > Deployment Management > Deployment Policies.

Solution

Locate and remove client from all Deployment Policies if the client has been retired.
