Problem

The evplaceholdercmode fpolicy cannot be created due to an authorization issue with the configured user.

Error Message

Event ID: 45084 The NetApp C-Mode placeholder server for vserver: vserver1.ev.local failed to configure FPolicy

A Dtrace of the EvNetAppCModePHSvr process on the Enterprise Vault(EV) server will show the following:

(EvNetAppCModePHSvr) <23432> EV:L  {CNetAppCModeFiler::CheckFPolicy:#401} NetAPP ONTAP API Err 13002.
(EvNetAppCModePHSvr) <23432> EV:L  {CNetAppCModeFiler::CheckFPolicy:#405} NetAPP ONTAP API Errstr: HTTP POST - Authorization failed

Cause

Management access is enabled on the LIF. However, the user may be configured at the cluster level and not the Vserver level.

This can also occur if the password for the user specified on the File Servers > NetApp C-Mode tab is changed.  

Solution

Ensure that the user is defined with the proper rights on each Vserver to be added. Please refer to the following documentation for more information.

Granting the required permission on each Vserver

Update the Password on the File Servers > NetApp C-Mode tab and restart the Enterprise Vault Admin Service on the Enterprise Vault server.
