Description
The steps below will explain how to use the Source Locator Modifier support feature.
Step 1: Verify
Navigate to web page System > Support Features
Select Source Locator Modifier
Use the Within Case dropdown to select the Case.
For OPERATION select Verify
For SOURCE specify the source path string to be identified and replaced.
For DESTINATION specify the new source path string.
Optionally select Save output to file as TXT
Click the Submit button.
This will not update any records. The action will simply display the database tables that eDiscovery will need to update and the number of updates that will be made (Figure 1).
Figure 1.
Step 2: Execution
Note: This operation will update the eDiscovery databases for this case. It is therefore recommended that a Case backup be created before performing this operation, and that no users are accessing the Case while the operation is being performed.
IMPORTANT: Do not perform this operation if the source files have been discovered by eDiscovery, but not yet processed (indexed) into eDiscovery. If this operation is performed after discovery, but before processing, the processing of any loose files will fail with an invalid directory error displayed in the Processing > Sources & Pre-Processing > Manage Sources page.
Use the Within Case dropdown to select the Case.
For OPERATION select Execute.
For SOURCE specify the source path string to be identified and replaced.
For DESTINATION specify the new source path string.
Optionally select Save output to file as TXT
Click the Submit button.
This will update the Clearwell databases for this Case (Figure 2).
Figure 2.
Note: The submit button will turn a grey color as the update is being performed. For a large case (1+ million documents) this operation could up to take an hour or two to complete. It is therefore recommended that this operation be performed outside of normal working hours. While this update is being performed, use of the other support features will not be possible.
A log of when any support feature is used, including the Source Locator Modifier support feature, can be found in fileD:\CW\<version>\scratch\support\esadb\audit.txt.
[OPTIONAL] Step 3: Change the Extracted Files and Converted Files locations
The user may also want to change the Extracted email files to and Place converted files in locations for the Case. The current locations being used by the Case, can be found under the Configure processing parameters and features section of page Processing > Settings for the Case (Figure 3).
Figure 3.
By default, these locations cannot be changed once processing has been performed on the Case. It is possible however, to change these values using the Property Browser support feature and Case-level properties and esa.case.extractedFilesDir and esa.case.convertedFilesDir (Figure 4 and Figure 5).
Figure 4.
Figure 5.
Note: If the user wants to change this for all cases created in the future, then simply change the values on page System > Locations instead. These are the default locations that all Cases will use; unless the user has overridden these locations using Case-level property values for properties esa.case.convertedFilesDir and esa.case.extractedFilesDir
