Problem
After restarting FT media server processes, some FT clients use the LAN instead of Fibre Transport for backups.
Cause
From the output of /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbftconfig -lc -verbose:
SAN Client HBA Port : 16 SAN Client Device State: disabled Media Server Name : FTmediaserver01 Media Sever State : active Media Server HBA Port : 3 Media Server Port Mode : FABRIC Media Server LUN : 0
Solution
Note that the value for 'SAN Client Device State' is 'disabled'.
The operating system that runs on the FT client has seen the Archive Python devices disappear when the FT media server processes were stopped, and then seen the Archive Python devices reappear when the FT media server processes were started again. This causes issues with many operating systems, and often the OS will close the file descriptor that nbftclnt uses to communicate with the FT pipes in question.
The solution is to stop and restart the FT client process on the SAN client, nbftclnt.
