Problem

During the pluggable database (PDB) point-in-time (PIT) restore, the restore job is in queued state for 10 minutes by default. After 10 minutes, the restore job resumes.

Cause

The restore job is in the queued state because PDB PIT restore is a two-step process that is, restore and recovery. In Oracle 12c, the PDB recovery happens using a temporarily created auxiliary instance of the container database (CDB).  To create this auxiliary instance, RMAN needs additional data to restore during the recovery phase. Therefore, to clean up the channel created during the restore and to allocate a new channel for the auxiliary instance, the Oracle agent has a default channel clean up period of 10 minutes.

Solution

To change the default channel timeout value, create the registry key "ChannelTimeout" under "HKLM\Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Agents\XBSA\Oracle RMAN Agent"

Set the value of this registry key in minutes. There is no specific minimum value, but Veritas recommends to set a value above 3 minutes.
