Problem

When using the Arctera System Recovery Disk (SRD) to perform a cold backup of a computer, instead of being prompted for a license key an error appears stating that the server is "not licensed to create backup".

Error Message

Not licensed to create backup

Cause

This issue may occur if using an SRD created using the "Typical" option on another computer which has an operating system version lower than the operating system version on the system to be backed up.

Solution

Create a new SRD from the Arctera System Recovery console and select the Advanced option.  This will use the latest version of the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) and the resulting disk can be used on any supported operating system.  When prompted during SRD creation to specify how licensed features are enabled, enter the license key so it gets embedded on the new SRD.

Boot the machine that is experiencing the error off of the newly created custom SRD to perform the backup/restore.
